Thule 594XT Sidearm used in Tour of Alberta
The Tour of Alberta is a six day, 850km race through the prairies, foothills, and Rockies of Alberta under UCI 2.1 Pro Stage Race rules. Racers from around the world will be participating, and they are only trusting Thule brand racks to carry their top-of-the-line road bikes.
The Thule 594XT Sidearm upright bike rack will be the star of the show, entrusted with carrying mind-blowing bicycles (with eye-popping price tags!). The Sidearm is a roof-mounted bike rack that allows you keep the front wheel attached.
In collaboration with Thule Canada, Racks For Cars will be racking all of the vehicles accompanying the riders along the Tour of Alberta route. This is great news for you, as we’re going to have a limited selection of very lightly used Sidearms available for purchase. You can pre-order your Tour of Alberta Sidearm now, and they will become available for delivery after the completion of the race.
The Sidearm's unique SecureHook™ holding system grabs the front wheel with a ratcheting arm that doesn’t touch the bike frame – important when you have a carbon fiber frame that could crimp and deform under the strain of a frame-grabbing rack. The arm locks down so that the ratcheting mechanism can’t be released unless you have a key. Additionally, the hardware that attaches the bike tray to the vehicle’s crossbars gets locked down – the bike will be locked into the rack and the rack will be locked on to the vehicle for total security. By grabbing the front wheel, the Sidearm avoids the pitfalls of fork-mounted racks. There are no adaptors necessary for bikes with large axles. Since the front wheel stays attached to the bike, there’s no need to store it separately, preserving space on the crossbars. Almost any wheel with a 20” to 29” diameter and up to a 2.6” width will fit into the Sidearm.
